Beyond the Class
Our desire is to instruct and advance a students skills while also allowing for opportunity to exercise those skills in informal training sessions. I have found in over 30 years of training that informal training sessions are a critical part of self defense competency. Students and instructors require the opportunity to practice the unknown attack, explore combining techniques and most importantly understanding mistakes that can lead to your or others (the attacker included) unintended harm. These sessions can be compared to open sparing in traditional Karate with the distinct difference that Roku Jutsu does not prepare for a continued encounter over minuets. Roku Jutsu is a highly effective system designed for quick study to deliver a proportionate defense ending an encounter in 2-5 seconds.
As a group of individuals interested in honing our skills, opportunities will be offered to explore other systems through knowledge of an existing student or through a visiting instructor as those situations present themselves.
